Let Go vs. Being Easily Offended

Some of the best advice I have received is to “not be easily offended.”

This advice comes from the Bible.

When I was younger, my feelings were easily hurt by brash words, especially when they were true. Even when they weren’t, I could stew on unkindness for days. Then something changed when I discovered Proverbs 19:11— A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

When I meditated on these words instead of focusing on what others said, it freed me from being easily offended.

Proverbs provided the wisdom I needed to stop getting caught up in what others said about me. God’s word changes our thinking as we replace our feelings with His truth. It is a superpower that frees us from those things that entangle us (even our own sensitivities) and enables us to get on with more important things in life.
