Seasons vs. Forever

My grandmother wanted to foster a resilient spirit in me growing up, so she would often say, “Life is synonymous with change.” Like seasons change, so do circumstances. Sunflowers in their glory only bloom for 20 days a year. Our problems are often temporary too.

Instead of holding onto hard times, I learned to let go and trust that there was a purpose in each season, everyone having lessons that helped me grow. Things would work out because someone was looking after me. I could depend on God’s faithful hand to work in my life, just like it worked in the wild. The mustard covered the hills every spring, no matter how much rain or frost there was that winter. In fact, I learned that the most beautiful spring flowers come from the thickest snow.

Life, like the weather, has good and bad days; seasons don’t last forever. God promises to use even the bad things for good when we keep our eyes on Him.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 wisely tells us, “To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.”
